Glossary / Non-disparagement clause

What is non-disparagement clause?

A non-disparagement clause is contract language forbidding you from criticising a business — generally unenforceable against consumers in the US.

The Consumer Review Fairness Act voids these clauses in form contracts consumers cannot negotiate. They still appear in settlement agreements you individually negotiate, which are treated differently — if you settled and signed one, take advice before posting.
