Glossary / Consumer Review Fairness Act

What is consumer review fairness act?

The Consumer Review Fairness Act is a 2016 US federal law that voids contract clauses attempting to ban or penalise honest customer reviews.

Non-disparagement clauses in standard-form consumer contracts are unenforceable under the Act, and the FTC can act against businesses that use them. A business cannot legally fine you for a truthful review or make review-silence a condition of service.
