Glossary / Cease and desist letter

What is cease and desist letter?

A cease and desist letter is a private demand — usually from a lawyer — that you remove a review; it is not a court order.

Receiving one does not obligate you to take anything down. It is worth reading carefully to see whether it identifies a specific statement it claims is false. If every fact in your review is documented, the usual response is to correct nothing, keep your evidence, and consider legal advice before replying.
