How to complain about a hvac company
Emergency pricing and unnecessary replacements are the two complaints that dominate heating and cooling.
What goes wrong most often
- Full system replacement sold when a repair would do
- Install that failed inspection or was never permitted
- Warranty work refused on a unit they installed
- Emergency surcharge never disclosed before the visit
The evidence that decides it
- The quote, invoice, and equipment model numbers
- The permit record (or absence of one)
- A second opinion in writing
State the quoted repair, the sold replacement, and the price gap.
The regulator most people never use
State contractor or mechanical licensing board
HVAC work usually requires a licensed installer and a permit. Missing permits are checkable public record and are strong evidence.
Your state's channel is listed in the state complaint guides.
